After extensive research, I found a sand-filled, synthetic putting green product. I was so amazed at how realistic it looked and played that I decided to start selling putting greens. At the time, I owned and operated two businesses: a major appliance business and a trade magazine. I sold the appliance business, put the publication of the magazine into the hands of my trusted employees and dove head-first into my new putting green business. On May 1, 1987, ProGreen International, Inc. was born.

Several years later I sold my publishing business, and the rest is history. I strongly believe in the hands-on work ethic that had made my previous businesses successful, and I knew that if I could eliminate some of the product imperfections the potential would be endless. After thousands of sales world-wide, we have perfected the synthetic putting green system.

I have been personally involved in over one hundred installations, constantly making improvements. I experimented with many different types of synthetic turf products--from monofilament to poly slip-film. As ProGreen grew, I became personally involved with the manufacturing process, making improvements to the turf. The things that make our Golf Green System stand out are the 100% UV-treated polypropylene olefin yarn, and a primary and secondary backing of polypropylene and urethane. From our one-of-a-kind cup support system, our seam material, and our sub-base preparation methods, to our trademarked round, green, top-dressing sand, we have completely revolutionized the synthetic golf green.
